OLLI Funding

How is OLLI@CSUMB Funded?

A portion of our funding comes from interest from The Bernard Osher Foundation endowment and in-kind support from Cal State Monterey Bay.  However, the bulk of the funding is generated by course fees (60%) and donations (12%).

What type of funding does OLLI@CSUMB receive from The Bernard Osher Foundation?

OLLI@CSUMB was initially funded through a series of grants from The Bernard Osher Foundation.  In January 2012, in lieu of the grants, we were awarded a $950K endowment based on demonstrated program success, strong evidence of sustainability, and a membership exceeding 500 members.

The endowment gift is a true statement of confidence in OLLI@CSUMB and ensures that the work of OLLI continues in perpetuity.

What does this mean for the future of OLLI?

This endowment allows OLLI to have partial funding in perpetuity.  It provides approximately $45K (interest on investment) toward our annual operations.

The annual funds received from this endowment gift and membership fees cover only a portion of the amount OLLI needs to operate.

How you can make a difference

Please consider encouraging a family member or friend to sign up and come with you to your next OLLI@CSUMB class.  For less than the cost of a dinner for two, your family member or friend can have a life-enhancing experience with our incredible faculty and fascinating members!

You can also help by making a tax-deductible donation of any size to our OLLI Annual Fund.  Your contribution means that fees can be kept low, scholarships to those in need can be awarded, and the program infrastructure can grow as the demands of growth require.  Every individual who donates to OLLI@CSUMB demonstrates local community support for lifelong learning and reinforces the commitment of The Bernard Osher Foundation.
