Bhutan: The Original Shangri-La?

Course Description:

Bhutan, a Himalayan country of approximately 700,000, is blessed with a benevolent king who shuns Gross National Product and instead promotes Gross National Happiness. Join us as we view the spectacular scenery and experience the rich Buddhist culture in what may be the original Shangri-La. Enjoy the Tshechu, a masked dance festival attended by thousands of Bhutanese in their splendid ethnic clothing. See the traditional architecture of the farmhouses, visit the ancient fortresses and immerse yourselves in fascinating religious practices that originated in Tibet.

Sandy and Gail Cohen have been traveling to exoticlocations for the past 15 years and have presented numerous original travelogues based on these travels to audiences on both coasts. Sandy is a nuclear engineer and founded a consulting company in 1981. Gail taught biology at the high school and college levels.
