Black Filmmakers: Controlling the Narrative

Course Description:

In this course, we’ll view films written and directed by four prominent African-American filmmakers: Spike Lee, Charles Burnett, Julie Dash, and Ryan Coogler. Each director depicts a unique and diverse African-American experience that he/she controls from start to finish of the product.

The films will include "Do the Right Thing," "To Sleep with Anger," "Daughters of the Dust," and "Fruitvale Station."
