Course Description:

Citizen-led conservation efforts have been crucial to California's cutting edge coastal policies, from preserving parts of San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay, to the creation of the California Coastal Commission, and more. However, new concerns are always arising, including challenges to the Endangered Species Act and threats to the survival of the Southern sea otter. Using his soon-to-be-released book The Edge as a focal point, Kim Steinhardt will shed light on the California coast's past, present and future with some legal, environmental, and historical perspectives. He'll also share colorful tales from a life spent along the coast as well as stunning photos of the shoreline and coastal wildlife.
