Course Description:

This exclusive private tour begins at the Center for Photographic Art. Executive Director Brian
Taylor will regale us with stories about the gallery’s history – beginning with its renowned founders Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock and Cole Weston. Learn about the traditions and photographers who are associated with the West Coast school of photography. From there we’ll take an easy stroll to the Weston Gallery where Richard Gaad, Gallery Director, will be our personal guide, opening the archives to share exceptional prints from the 1860s to the present. Our last stop will be at Gallery Sur, where contemporary photographer Winston Swift Boyer will speak about his unique painterly approach to photography, and discuss techniques and inspirations as we get a close-up view of work from three of his major photographic series.
