Course Description:

All writing is a creative endeavor, even when based on facts. Please join Cheryl Carter to explore the distinguishing aspects of both genres. We will examine the nuances that make some writing more enjoyable and believable through concepts such as voice, language, setting, character, plot, perspective and point of view. The first hour of each session will be instructional with literary examples and writing assignments. The second hour will be a workshop with each student sharing his or her work in a positive and supportive atmosphere. Each student is encouraged to write and engage during the four dynamic workshop sessions.
