Ilustrated View of Historic Hotel Del Monte

Course Description:

Esteemed historian John Sanders looks back on the pioneering resort that transformed the Monterey Peninsula from a quiet pueblo into a renowned tourist mecca. Thousands came each year from the four corners of the world—American presidents, members of royal families, prominent inventors, artists, writers and many others—and they returned home with fond memories, enchanted by the beauty and carefree nature of Del Monte and the Monterey Peninsula.

Join us for an afternoon of sleuthing as we review and analyze historic graphics used in hotel advertising and publications and assess the resort's cultural influence in the region.
