[Past Event] Invention of Writing

Course Description:

The invention of writing ranks with the discovery of fire in its importance to human development. Dr. Bonnie Irwin explores the ways non-literate cultures thought and created verbal art and analyzes how these things changed with the development of written communication. Not only did history become possible with the advent of writing, but human minds started to function differently as well. As thought processes changed, writing opened the door to science, literature and many of the things that we now take for granted.
