Course Description:

The history of medicine is replete with not only lifesaving discoveries, but also bizarre treatments, trendy fads and diets, and outright quackery. In this fourpart offering, Dr. Roger Luckenbach takes us on a fascinating journey as he examines the triumphs and missteps of the past while looking toward a future heavily influenced by robots, computers, genomes, and even personalized medicine.

Facilitator:

Roger Luckenbach, PhD is Emeritus Professor of Biology and former Director of the Biotechnology and Honors Science programs at Fresno City College. During his four decades in higher education, he also taught and conducted research at the University of California, Santa Cruz and the Smithsonian. For years, he penned the “Roger’s World” column for the Monterey Coast Weekly.
