Course Description:

Franz Schubert (1797-1828) was a masterful composer, known for his ability to adapt to almost any kind of musical form. In this four-part series, we will reveal Schubert’s process of composition, from his art songs, to his piano works and chamber music, to his symphonies. For our last session, we’ll listen to Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 performed by the Monterey Symphony and then follow up with a close analysis of this glorious piece. No previous musical training is needed for this course.
