[PAST EVENT] Black Lives Have Always Mattered

Course Description:

The essay "Skin" by Michael Reid, a local author and founding member of the OLLI Writers' Circle, is included in Black Lives Have Always Mattered, a new collection of essays, poems and personal narratives. Michael and contributors Anna Christian and Vicki Ward will read their work, followed by a question-and-answer session and book signing. Reception immediately following.

Poetry and short stories by Ward, a San Francisco Bay Area resident, have appeared in many anthologies. Christian, who lives in Moreno Valley, is the author of six books, numerous book reviews and a blog.

Black Lives Have Always Mattered was edited by Abiodun Oyewole, a poet, teacher, and founding member of the American music and spoken-word group The Last Poets, and published by 2Leaf Press.

Friday, Oct. 27; 4-6pm. To be held in the Alumni Visitors Center on the Cal State Monterey Bay campus. (Corner of Gen. Jim Moore Blvd and Inter-Garrison Road.)
