Course Description:

China’s dramatic transformation from a peasant-based revolutionary state to a global economic juggernaut has profound implications for today’s world. Historian David Anderson shares personal observations of this process based on multiple trips to China, from his first journey in 1977 immediately following Mao’s death to his more recent visits.
