[Past Event] Scams and Fraud: Look Before You Leap(Waitlist)

Course Description:

Phones calls, text, emails and social media are used at an alarming rate to swindle, scam or defraud innocent victims, with older adults a favorite target. Unfortunately, criminal use of this communication is easy to employ and difficult to trace and detect. Examples abound including clickbait, impersonation, offers of romance, and phishing as well as lottery and money-making scams. Dr. Richard Morriss examines the most effective methods to counterattack these criminals, including recognition of common scams, skeptical thinking skills, fact-checking, the right questions to ask, dealing with unwanted emails and phone calls, and reporting to the authorities.
