Course Description:

"Love's Labor's Lost" is one of Shakespeare’s most fleetfooted and funniest plays. It's a comedy that relishes games—games with words, games of acting, games of love. It showcases the pleasures of delighting in language but also the dangers: the social worlds of the story collide with sometimes prickly hostility. "The Merry Wives of Windsor" 'eschews the verbal artfulness of earlier comedies for an earthy, prosy texture.' Legend has it that Shakespeare wrote the comedy in just 14 days on command of Queen Elizabeth, who having adored the character of Falstaff in the earlier Henry IV plays, wished to see "him in love."
