Course Description:

After surviving the most harrowing episode since the Great Depression, the U.S. financial system has slowly but steadily recovered. What lessons have been learned since the collapse of Lehman Brothers in September 2008? Have financial institutions adopted a culture of prudent risk management and social accountability? Are adequate systems in place to prevent the recurrence of mismanagement and disregard for the consequences of bad decisions? This presentation will examine the banking, insurance, and investment markets, their interconnections, and the regulatory framework that supervises market activities. It will include in-depth looks at changes generated by new technology and problematic areas such as Wells Fargo’s retail banking scandal.
