Writing About Family: Workshop, Reading and Reception

Award-winning memoirist Kat Meads will offer a free one-hour workshop on "Writing About Family," followed by a reading and signing of her latest nonfiction collection, "2:12 a.m."

Join Kat for a lively afternoon of family investigations as she explores narrative strategies and discusses the obstacles writers encounter when attempting to present their own version of family history and dynamics.

Interested only in attending Kat's reading and book discussion? This portion of the program begins at 5:00pm and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.

Kat Meads has received a National Endowment for the Arts grant in poetry, a California Artist Fellowship in fiction and her short stories and essays have won awards from numerous literary publications including Chelsea, Inkwell, New Letters and The Drunken Boat. Kat's historical novel, "For You, Madam Lenin," received an IPPY Silver Medal and was a 2012 ForeWord Book of the Year finalist. Her most recent work, "2:12 a.m.," has garnered rave reviews nationwide.
