Course Description:

“The best doctor is also a philosopher,” said Galen, a luminary first-century Greek physician. Yet modern medical education is highly focused on content from the practical arts, such as science, and largely ignores the liberal and fine arts. This is unbalanced. Instruction in the humanities offers knowledge and meaning not available through standard science-based medical curriculum. Dr. John Clark examines how art and philosophy in medical education can result in a medical mind that is healthier and more balanced for practitioners and their patients.
