Course Description:

In 1960, three seminal musical groups were formed. The Beatles in Liverpool, the Temptations in Detroit, and the Beach Boys in Hawthorne, CA, all began their treks to the top of their profession with each eventually being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. While each of these groups had their own style and genre, there is clear evidence that they influenced each other and ultimately all of popular music. Join us as we explore the historical, developmental and musical intersections of these three legendary bands.

Chris Hasegawa grew up listening to the Beatles, the Temptations and the Beach Boys. Most of his cultural interests were formed in the '60s and '70s and, as proof, just check out the songs he plays in his car. Larry Sill, as a music major in college, had to study classical music but only played modern "classics" everywhere else. Having seen the Beatles in Chicago in 1965, he's been hooked on bands of the '60s ever since.
