Course Description:

What was a typical day like for the Rumsen people, the Native Americans who lived in Carmel Valley for 10,000 years before Europeans arrived? We’ll learn how the Rumsens lived, and how they used native plants – tying together history and landscape. Offered in collaboration with the Santa Lucia Conservancy. Transportation on one's own. (Note: Involves walking about half a mile over an even, dirt path.)

Julie Sigourney has been an outdoor educator at the Santa Lucia Conservency for 20 years, where she has created curriculum for a wide range of ages that is specific to our location. She has a degree in plant ecology and environmental policy from UC Davis.
