Course Description:Mar. 4 - "How Economists Helped End the Draft": An exciting story, which Dr. Henderson began following at age 18, was how economists, starting in the mid-1960s, made an economic case for ending conscription. In this session, he will examine their arguments and analysis, and also discuss the role many of them played on President Nixon’s commission on the all-volunteer force. He'll also touch on his own role in opposing Senator Sam Nunn’s attempt to reintroduce the draft in 1979. |
