Course Description:

Our society uses substantial quantities of energy. Between 80 and 85% of the world's energy comes from fossil fuels, which are preferred because they are relatively inexpensive and are readily available (at least at present). But, how long will our fossil fuel reserve last? Is it wise, from an environmental perspective, to continue to use fossil fuels? The answers to both questions are not simple. In this lecture series, Dr. Andres Larraza addresses these questions starting with the current scientific understanding of climate change and following with a description of current developments on supply energy technologies.
