Course Description:

The Second Amendment, assault weapons ban, gun rights vs. gun control, semi-automatic weapons, the gun lobby, ghost guns, red flag laws, universal background checks. These are but a few of the talking points amid the growing debate over how to prevent and reduce gun violence in America. In 2020 more than 40,000 people died from gun-related injuries, with many thousands more wounded at great human and financial cost. In this special four-part offering, Dr. Ed Laurance, an expert on the impact of armed violence on societies, informs this ever-expanding discussion that has now reached center stage in America. The text for this course is "The Gun Debate: What Everyone Needs to Know."
