Course Description:

What kind of government is best suited to meet the needs of society? Our brightest minds have wrestled with this question for centuries. Five of the most significant political theorists–Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, and Marx–have presented us with very different views of governing. In this course, we'll examine the works of these philosophers and their views of human nature as we try to determine what makes the most sense in our modern world.
