Course Description:

Professor, author and historian Jared Day examines the key aspects of John F. Kennedy’s tenure in the White House with special focus on how he learned and evolved as a president during some of the darkest periods of the Cold War. The Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis will receive particular attention, along with critical domestic crises such as the civil rights movement and the U.S. space program.

Jared Day, Ph.D., taught American history at Carnegie Mellon University for 16 years. His areas of specialization are U.S. political, urban and cultural history as well as world history from the late 18th century to the present. Dr. Day is the author of several books along with numerous other popular and peer reviewed articles.
