Course Description:Born almost half of a century apart, Richard Rodgers and Andrew Lloyd Webber helped shape the Broadway musical during the twentieth century with over 60 shows composed between them. Dr. Todd Samra compares their stage works, alongside examples of music composed for films and the concert hall, their impact on American and British culture, and their contributions to the development of musicals, films and popular music. |

Todd Samra, D.A., is a musicologist, teacher, composer,
and arranger who earned his Doctor of Arts at Ball State
University. Dr. Samra is well regarded as one of the most
dynamic lecturers on the Monterey Peninsula.
