[Past Event] Exploring World Ceramics

Course Description:

With roots firmly planted in functionality, ceramics has held an integral place in most cultures. Beginning with indigenous peoples, this series of highly visual presentations offers the journey clay has taken throughout the world. We'll go on a whirlwind expedition that explores the various and unusual uses of clay in architecture, the development of fine porcelains, and finish with the sculptural expressions of contemporary ceramic artisans. This course also includes a colorful handout to retain for reference.

Facilitator:

Dana Goforth began working in clay at a young age, throwing her first teapot at 10. She graduated from San Francisco State with a creative arts degree, specializing in sculpture. Her ceramic work has been exhibited internationally and she continues to explore new directions in three-dimensional art.
