Course Description:

When we remember a time, we remember the music that was the soundtrack to our lives. Music reflects our society and serves as a herald to future directions. Using vintage film footage as our guide, we'll look back at some of the 20th century's great musical performances.

Gary Shapiro has been an educator for 30 years and teaches Film Appreciation and Broadcast History at Monterey Peninsula College. A broadcaster for over four decades, he is the longtime host of "From the Bookshelf," a radio program featuring interviews with authors and celebrities.
