Tracing the Evolution of the Universe Dr. Gregory Davis, a Principal Technologist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, highlights the engineering and technology underlying the revolutionary James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the largest and most powerful infrared telescope in space. Dr. David also highlights how its high resolution and ultrasensitive instruments enable observation of the first stars, the formation of the first galaxies, and detailed atmospheric characterization of potentially habitable exoplanets.

Facilitator:

Gregory Davis, Ph.D., has worked for 30 years at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) at the California Institute of Technology. He's been involved in numerous JPL flight projects including Juno and three Mars landers, and received a NASA award for his work on Mars Pathfinder. A past lecturer at Caltech, he holds a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University.
