[Past Event] Monterey Jazz Festival Prep and Pizza

Course Description:

If it's your first time to the Monterey Jazz Festival or even if you're a festival veteran, planning your listening is half the fun. Hosted by Bob Danziger, join journalists Andrew Gilbert and Pamela Espeland for an illuminating and educational primer on the music and styles of Monterey Jazz Festival artists playing that weekend so you can know what to expect this year. Pizza and a Q&A will be included.

Facilitator:

Pamela Espeland writes a daily arts column for MinnPost.com, writes about jazz and the arts for the "Star Tribune," and blogs at bebopified.com. She is a regular contributor to the Monterey Jazz Festival program.

Andrew Gilbert covers jazz, international music and dance for KQED's "California Report," the "Mercury News," "San Francisco Chronicle," San Francisco Classical Voice," "Jazz Times," and many other legendary publications.

Bob Danziger received an Honorary Doctorate in Music from CSUMB, won the New York Film Festival gold medal for Best Original Music, and has produced a number of videos for the Monterey Jazz Festival.
