Course Description:Poets have been writing about works of visual art since Classical times. In this four-session offering to be held during National Poetry Month, we will take a deep dive into the sea of poetry by exploring poems written about artwork. In a seminar setting, we will look at the correspondences and connections that emerge between these two art forms. Diverse works by poets including Anne Carson, Billy Collins, Robert Hass, and Rebecca Wolff will be read while looking at reproductions of the artworks that inspired them. |
