Course Description:

Introduced over 5,000 years ago, the Indian saree is among the oldest garments in the world still in existence. The saree is a weaver's challenge and a wearer's delight. This two-part course will begin with an overview of the rich history of the saree. Participants will then create a motif for their own saree as well as design three of its major components—the "Palav," the border, and the body. You'll walk away with a colorful template of your creation. During the design process, varying styles will be on display during a saree-wearing demonstration.
