Course Description:

Over a century after he first appeared in "A Study in Scarlet," Sherlock Holmes has become the most recognizable literary character on earth. The Holmes stories have been translated into over 100 languages, and the world's first consulting detective has appeared in countless films and television adaptations. The tales have also become the subject of serious scholarship by literary societies, who study them and celebrate the exploits of their major characters.

Michael H. Kean, Ph.D., a longtime devotee of Sherlock Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle, is the author of over 30 articles, and editor of a doxen books and monographs on the detective and his creator. In January he will become the head of The Baker Street Irregulars, only the sixth person to lead the premiere international Sherlockian society since its founding in 1934.
