Course Description:

Big Sur Land Trust welcomes OLLI for a gentle hike within the stunning Mitteldorf Preserve. Located in the Santa Lucia Mountains southeast of Carmel and home to Monterey County’s oldest redwood tree dating back to the 8th century, this amazing landscape was forever protected from industrial logging when Harriet and Arthur Mitteldorf provided funds for BSLT to purchase the property in 1990. Often described as a magic place where a close human connection to nature happens almost instantaneously, Mitteldorf Preserve offers 1,000 acres of riparian and oak woodlands, chaparral, grasslands, and a rare stand of madrone. Each contributes to the beauty of this important watershed and habitat for several protected species.

Notes and Requirements:

1. Involves walking 4 miles on a well-maintained trail with some gentle elevation changes.
2. Participants will be required to complete BSLT Online Waiver.
3. Participants will (and must) be transported to Mitteldorf through a facilitated carpool.
4. We're in this together—no early departures can be accommodated. Please plan for the full 9:00 am - 3:00 pm experience.

Tuition: $20.00

Additional Fees: $0.00
