Propose a Course

Provocative topics, outstanding instructors, engaged peers, and a hunger for learning — this is the OLLI@CSUMB experience. When you teach an OLLI class, you engage with learners insatiably curious about the world.

Drawing on a lifetime of teaching experience, OLLI@CSUMB is primarily composed of CSUMB faculty, Professors Emeriti and distinguished experts in their fields.

If you are interested in sharing your expertise and time with us, we'd love to hear from you. Art, economics, history, literature, music, nature, philosophy and science — we revel in it all.

Criteria for Course Selection

Courses have no homework or tests, and the most successful courses are those which are interactive, unique and offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the subject matter.  Course selection is based upon the following criteria:

  • The offering is academic in nature
  • The course is not already well-served in the community
  • The course explores a topic that is of interest to OLLI membership
  • The offering complements and/or ties into current CSU Monterey Bay university curriculum and/or research projects
  • The course highlights feature aspects of our community
  • Preference is strongly given to those who have had significant teaching experience.
Teaching Stipend/Honorarium
  • Instructors will receive compensation for instructional time starting at $150 per course hour.
  • While most of our 900+ members live in the Monterey Bay Area, online opportunities have expanded our membership base to points throughout the country. Proposals for both in-person and online instruction are welcome.
