Butterfly expert Chris Tenney introduces us to a local "celebrity," the Monarch butterfly. We'll also learn about the other 90 species that fly in our area, from common backyard butterflies to exotic descendants of tropical species. Chris will also discuss some common misconceptions shared by casual butterfly watchers. This course includes a lecture and a follow up field trip to Garland Ranch.

Field: We’ll walk about 1.5 miles over an even surface to a colony of the highly-sought, photogenic Sonoran Blue butterfly and up to 10 other species.
