Classic American Musicals: Irving Berlin | In Person (Ryan Ranch)
Course Description:Our Classic American Musical series continues its exploration of landmark Hollywood musicals with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Berlin's outpouring of ballads, dance numbers, and love songs defined American popular music for over five decades. This next chapter extends our journey through his post-WWII period with "Easter Parade" (1948), "Annie Get Your Gun" (1950), "Call Me Madam" (1953), and "There's No Business Like Show Business" (1954), films that showcase his range, wit, and enduring place in the Great American Songbook. We'll once again bring a bit of the theater experience to the classroom with freshly popped popcorn. |

Karen D. Kadushin, J.D., is Dean Emerita of Monterey College of Law and was the founding Executive Director of Women's Fund for Monterey County. In an earlier life, she was a lighting designer, stage manager, assistant producer, and performer in musical comedies.
