Course Description:

Nov. 4: Free Trade and Tariffs

The strong measures taken by President Trump to increase tariffs have made the issue of free trade and tariffs a pressing issue. In this talk, Dr. Henderson will consider the economic effects of both trade and tariffs. He will examine not only how they impact the United States, but how they impact other nations, including poor countries like Vietnam. In addition, he will explore the connection between free trade and world peace

Nov. 18: Legal and Illegal Immigration

The controversies over both legal and illegal immigration over the last 10 years make immigration a ripe topic for discussion. In this lecture, Dr. Henderson will explore the various arguments for and against both kinds of immigration and will evaluate the effects of past immigration. He will also evaluate the main arguments against immigration and will consider "keyhole" solutions that address the potential problems while providing gains to both Americans and immigrants.
