Emerging From the Shadow: Supreme Court | In Person (Ryan Ranch) (Closed)
Course Description:The U.S. Supreme Court begins its new term in October. How will the decisions on consequential issues made by the Court in the last term illuminate its approach to deciding the cases in the coming term? In this course, we will examine some of the most significant cases decided by the Court in 2025–26, and cases to be decided in the new term, on both the Court's regular "merits" docket and on its interim or "shadow" docket. We'll discuss selected cases affecting how our government functions, how we vote, the meaning of citizenship, how immigrants are treated, the future of anti-discrimination laws, the scope of constitutional protections, and more. Can these cases suggest the direction the Court is taking as it and a new Congress begin a new term? Join us in shining a light on the Supreme Court's role and influence in our society. |
