English Accents: Why Does English Sound the Way It Does? | Livestream Zoom

Course Description:

English, like all languages, varies by place and social setting. Geography, education, identity, and other factors shape the way people speak. Join us as we examine English dialects and accents around the world and how they've changed over time. We'll even consider what Shakespeare may have sounded like. From Boston to Toronto, London to Sydney, and many stops between, this lecture will open your eyes—and your ears—to the rich diversity of Englishes worldwide.
