Evolution of the Blues: Sweet Home Chicago | In Person (Ryan Ranch) (Closed)
Course Description:This semester, we'll take a deep dive into the center of the postwar urban blues: Chicago. We'll revisit some of the legends from previous classes (including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Little Walter) while connecting with several artists we've simply not had the chance to hear before, including alumni of the Muddy Waters Band who went out on their own, and the giant of West Side blues, Magic Sam. Of course, no visit to Chicago would be complete without a taste of Buddy Guy. Our pilgrimage to the bluesy Windy City celebrates the sounds that have inspired generations of artists around the world. |
