Fog, Wind, and Sun: Weather and Climate of Monterey | In Person (Ryan Ranch) (Closed)
Course Description:Let's explore the fascinating weather of our own local area—from the microclimates that shape our daily lives to the winter storm systems that sometimes bring damaging winds, dangerous surf, and flooding rains. How extreme have local weather conditions gotten? Have we ever had a tornado or hurricane? Why does the nicest time of year tend to be in early autumn? What causes our occasional coastal heatwaves or episodes of extreme fire-weather conditions? We'll consider these questions and much more. If time permits, we'll also briefly touch on climate change and how it may affect us here. |
