Course Description:

One of the less likely but more important relationships that played a central role in the American Revolution and rise of a new nation was that between George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. Their collaboration was essential to the success of the
American effort to separate from Great Britain and to the early success of the American government. Yet, neither Washington nor Hamilton, nor any of the other great "founders," could have accomplished what they did without the labors and sacrifices of
numerous "common folk." In this course, we weave together both a "great men" story and a "popular history" of the early years of America.
