Course Description:

Popular culture historian Gary Shapiro takes you on a tour of the golden age of network television in America. From the 1950s to the 1970s, TV was America’s primary medium of entertainment and news. Variety, drama, comedy, and news will be covered. Moments that all the nation shared at the same time, on the same night, on the same channel and relived the next day with friends and colleagues at the water cooler!

Gary Shapiro has been an educator for over 30 years and teaches Film Appreciation at Monterey Peninsula College. A broadcaster for over four decades, he is the longtime host of "From the Bookshelf," a radio program featuring interviews with authors and celebrities.
