Course Description:A celebrated Iranian film won Cannes's Palme d'Or in 2025, amid renewed U.S.-Iran tensions. Art can rise above politics and connect humans across time and space. Join us to view and discuss three films by acclaimed directors Jafar Panahi, Asghar Farhadi, and Majid Majidi. Panahi's "It Was Just an Accident" explores collective struggle, revenge, and ethical dilemmas. "About Elly," by the Oscar-winning Farhadi, examines friendship, family dynamics, and adult relationships. Majidi's "Children of Heaven" follows children facing everyday life with courage and tenderness. These films reveal cultural differences while illuminating the human commonalities we share.
