Course Description:Join us as we venture into the captivating world of blues songwriters. We will hear the work of significant songsmiths within the genre, primarily as interpreted by other blues performers (and some originals too). We'll experience multiple covers of some songs to show the breadth of what one can do with the same composition. The songwriters we’ll consider include delta bluesman Robert Johnson, Chicago legend Willie Dixon, the very popular Jimmy Reed, the masterful Elmore James, and a few other more contemporary writers like Keb' Mo' and Taj Mahal. Please join us even if you’re new to the series. |
