Course Description:Come with us on a voyage back in time to the dawn of the Neolithic Revolution. About 10,000 years ago humans abandoned their nomadic hunter-gatherer lives to become settled farmers. It brought about inferior nutrition, an increase in infectious disease and social stratification. Yet, without it, we would not have comfortable homes, art, music, or even chocolate in our lives today! But, are we really better off? Join us as we investigate the lives of our ancestors in a paleolithic tribe before the revolution and a neolithic village after the revolution. Who thought to plant the first seeds? Who managed to corral the first wild auroch for domestication? We'll uncover the fascinating details of just how this technologic and social transition occurred. |
