Course Description:Philanthropist Bernard Osher is both the founder and namesake of our beloved OLLI. The Osher family also happens to own a world-class collection of star-studded American art, including works by Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keeffe, Cecilia Beaux, Robert Henri, John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, Charles Sheeler, to name but a few. Many of these works have not been in the public eye for decades, and now they are all being brought to the de Young Museum this Fall. While we won’t go to San Francisco as a group, we will dive deep into the collection and its significance when we gather at Ryan Ranch. The paintings we will explore are delicious on their own, and they are especially exciting as we pair them with other holdings at the de Young. |
