Course Description:Poets have been writing about works of art since Classical times. This course embarks on a close study of selected poems written about visual artwork. Together, we will journey into connections and correspondences between the two art forms and explore how visual art serves as the catalyst for innumerable poems. Poetry by Jennifer Barber, Mark Doty, Edward Hirsch, and others will be read and discussed while looking at reproductions of the artworks that inspired them. |
