Course Description:Join musician and educator Amir Etemadzadeh for an engaging exploration of Zār, a rich musical tradition known for its powerful rhythms, chants, and communal spirit. Learn about the history, cultural significance, and traditional uses of Zār music across the Middle East and Northeast Africa. Following the presentation, participants will take part in a hands-on musical experience using simple rhythms, drumming, and group chanting. Together, we will explore how rhythm, breath, voice, and community participation can create a sense of connection, relaxation, and vitality. No musical background is necessary. |
