Course Description:A tree identification session can be a valuable way to learn about local tree species and improve our understanding of the natural world. Join conservation biologist Patrick Furtado to hike and identify the common native trees of Garland Ranch Regional Park. We'll take a look at tree leaves, bark and fruit to help identify the species and become familiar with the Coast Live Oak, Black Cottonwood, California Buckeye, and other local varieties. Our exploration will consist of a 1-2 mile walk with 200 feet of elevation change. We'll meet at the Garland Park Visitor Center. |

Patrick Furtado, M.S., works as a consulting plant and wildlife biologist. He teaches field naturalist workshops for the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District and leads educational nature walks for Monterey Audubon, Big Sur Land Trust, and the California Native Plant Society.
